Cheese producer Sargento has announced leadership shifts in response to the retirement of EVP of operations Mike McEvoy and EVP of innovation Kristi Jankowski. As a result, Michael Pellegrino has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer.

Pellegrino will build on his expertise in scaling innovation for the organization as its most recent president and chief growth officer. He will now oversee the operations, innovation, sales, supply chain, and strategic planning business areas, including the company’s consumer products and food service and ingredients segments.

Pellegrino has been with Sargento since 2009. During that time, he accelerated company growth and led integrated marketing campaigns.

“Based on his proven track record, we know he will deliver against our ambitious growth plan while realizing our vision to the most innovative, best-loved real food company," said Louie Gentine, CEO of Sargento, of Pellegrino’s promotion.

McEvoy departs after a three-decade run with the company, holding a variety of roles including marketing manager, VP of sales, and president of the food ingredients division. Jankowski has been with the company since 1999, and has been in her current role for the past 14 years. She oversaw the company's Idea Center, where employees shared ideas for new products and patents.
