PepsiCo’s Gatorade recently launched a mobile application that lets young athletes capture and enhance personal sports videos using animated graphics and editing tools.
Dubbed Gatorade Highlights, the app lets users put their own creative twist on sports videos (like dunking a basketball), by integrating effects such as motion stickers that move with the action and respond to time and motion, as well as graphics that can brand the highlights with names, jersey numbers, nicknames and/or positions. The sports drink brand looked to athlete insights to drive the innovation, finding that teen athletes want to capture, share and celebrate their sports accomplishments, according to a statement shared with the Path to Purchase Institute.
Technology firm Work & Co assisted Gatorade on strategy, digital design and development of the new tool. The partners aimed to create something that was both “fun and functional,” according to the statement.
Gatorade Highlights is available free on the App Store and Google Play.
