About the Spin-Off

In 2024, Unilever announced it would shift its ice cream business to a different ownership structure, which will include brands such as Wall's, Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s.

This is part of Unilever's strategy to focus on its core growth drivers, the beauty and wellness, personal care, home care, and nutrition categories

The Magnum Ice Cream Co. has announced its tech and partner strategy to prepare for the conclusion of key transitional services agreements (TSAs) by the end of 2027 as part of its spin-off from Unilever.

The plan includes AI-enabled optimizations across the supply chain, sales, finance, procurement and other functions to create simpler, more intuitive systems that will ultimately improve visibility, collaboration and execution.

Magnum Ice Cream has entered into several technology partnerships to support these initiatives.

The company will leverage Microsoft's cloud infrastructure and collaboration tools and use Kinaxis to optimize its supply chain, sales and operations workflows through a centralized planning hub. It will also consolidate multiple ERP instances with a single global RISE with SAP S/4HANA backbone.

Through this, Magnum Ice cream gains access to AI-assisted forecasting and weather-based demand insights so it can more quickly respond to inventory changes.

Additionally, the company will launch a new standardized, connected CRM platform through its collaboration with Salesforce, bringing in-home and out-of-home efforts together. Accenture will focus on the deployment of the core enterprise, AI, data and cybersecurity tools, and HCLTech will lead the infrastructure rollout and manage end-user services.

These platforms will go live in a phased approach over the next 18 months.

Sandeep Desai, chief supply chain and operations officer, said this roadmap reflects more than simply moving existing processes onto new systems; it is about creating the right digital backbone so Magnum's workforce can meet global customer and consumer demands.

"Establishing our own technology stack is a significant milestone, and we have chosen partners with the scale and capability to support us over the long-term," Desai said in a statement. "As we move forward as an independent business, this roadmap will enable better visibility, planning and decision-making for our teams."
