Melissa Hockstad will take on the role on January 6.
The Consumer Brands Association has a new leader at the helm. The company has hired Melissa Hockstad as its incoming president and CEO. She will take on the role on January 6.
Hockstad joins the association from the American Cleaning Institute where she had been president and CEO since 2017. There she helped advance policies that support the $60 billion U.S. cleaning product supply chain. Across 25 years of executive experience, she also held leadership positions at the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, the Plastics Industry Association, the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates, and LyondellBasell.
Linda Rendle, Consumer Brands board chair, and chair and CEO of The Clorox Company, said Hockstad was selected for her strategic vision, in-depth knowledge, and a track record of driving progress and growth to consumer brands.

“Melissa is an experienced and accomplished leader who is well-positioned to build on the association’s successes and help guide our future,” said Billy Cyr, CEO, Freshpet, Inc., who led the CEO search committee.

Hockstad replaces David Chavern, who left the company to serve as president and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers.
