Spanx has named its new CEO.
The women's shapewear and apparel brand has tapped Caroline (Cricket) Whitton as its new chief executive, promoting from within from her previous role as president and chief growth officer, where she led revenue and global growth efforts for the last seven years.
Whitton succeeds Kim Jones as CEO, who left the company in July 2023.
Before joining Spanx in 2017, Whitton drove digital growth at several retail brands including Design Within Reach, where she headed up digital marketing and e-commerce, and Wayfair, where she served as general manager of AllModern.com. As CEO of Spanx, will partner with Spanx's board to drive the brand's ambitious growth plans, the company said.
Spanx’s board also named Jeanne Jackson as executive chair. Jackson has held C-suite roles with Nike, Walmart.com, The Gap, Inc. and more, and currently serves on the boards of Moncler SpA, Monster Beverage, and Delta Airlines.
Commenting on the appointment, Spanx founder Sara Blakely praised Whitton’s deep commitment to the brand.
Established by Blakely in 2000, Spanx is perhaps best known for its popular control shapewear. The company also sells activewear, apparel, denim, swimwear, intimates, leggings, and hosiery both online and through stores.
Last year, the DTC brand put its name on brick-and-mortar spaces for the first time, launching an experiential pop-up series in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Miami. The company has been majority-owned by Blackstone since 2021.
