New CEO Succession Plan for JTI

Japan Tobacco International’s president and CEO, Thomas A. McCoy, will be retiring on March 31, 2017. Eddy Pirard, currently executive VP, Business Development, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications, will succeed him as of April 1, 2017.   Pirard, 54, a Belgian national, was appointed executive VP for Business Development, Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications in 2014 following his role as regional president for Western Europe.    McCoy, a US citizen, was appointed president and CEO in December 2013 and COO in October 2005.

Brands See Online Sales Lift Thanksgiving Weekend

Sales performance over the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend was an online success, according to RetailNext, which also reported a decrease in U.S. store sales of 4.2 percent on a 4.4 percent decline in store traffic over the same period a year ago.   Many brands saw “tremendous lift in their online channels that will positively impact overall performance, and Black Friday weekend was consistent with the expectations for a previously forecasted 3.2 percent rise in seasonal sales," said Shelley E. Kohan, vice president of retail consulting at RetailNext.

McCormick to Acquire Giotti

McCormick & Company, Incorporated will acquire 100% of the shares of Enrico Giotti SpA, a leading Italian flavor manufacturer located in Florence, Italy.
 
Giotti is well known in the industry for its innovative beverage, sweet, savory and dairy flavor applications. Annual sales are approximately 53 million Euro (56 million U.S. dollars).
 
The acquisition of Giotti expands the breadth of value-added products for McCormick's industrial segment including additional expertise in flavoring health and nutrition products.

That's the big takeaway as consulting firm Great Place to Work and Fortune recently announced the sixth annual list of the 25 World's Best Multinational Workplaces.

Tyson Foods Names New CEO

Tyson Foods Inc. CEO Donnie Smith is stepping down and will be replaced by President Tom Hayes; this comes amidst a downbeat outlook for profit in the coming year, according to Dow Jones Business News.

 Hayes, who will also keep the role of president, previously oversaw all of Tyson's North American sales as chief commercial officer.

Tyson added Hayes to the board last week, increasing its size to 10 members, according to a recent regulatory filing.

Bacardi Cuts Greenhouse Gas in Half

Bacardi cut its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity, worldwide, in half—more than a year earlier than its end of December 2017 target. This 50 percent reduction in GHGs is equivalent to taking 15,000 cars off the road each year, reducing oil use by 165,000 barrels annually or installing 18 wind turbines.
