Kantar has acquired all software IP and the development team from artificial intelligence company MindIT.
Based in Italy, MindIT is spin-out from Bologna University and an algorithms and AI specialist whose solutions have formed part of Kantar’s Trade Optimization Revenue Management suite since 2018. The team will join Kantar’s Trade Optimization SaaS business.
Cedric Guyot, Kantar executive managing director, trade optimization, said the integration of MindIT’s capabilities is a crucial step in delivering against the company’s vision of an integrated, end-to-end RGM platform.
Several Kantar clients already use MindIT in combination with Trade Optimization to facilitate portfolio, in-store and investment strategies, as well as harmonized datasets; holistic insights across assortment, pricing and promotions; and simulation, prediction and optimization of strategic choices.
An agreement with Grupo Bimbo specifies that the purchase amounts to $1.3 billion, bringing nearly 6,000 associates, four manufacturing facilities, and several distribution channels under the Mondelēz umbrella.
