Del Monte Foods Utilizes Cloud ERP
Natural Balance Pet Foods, Inc., a recently acquired wholly-owned subsidiary of Del Monte Foods, is live on Kenandy ERP from Kenandy, Inc.
Del Monte explored new corporate ERP systems because their on-premises system was complex, difficult to upgrade and costly to deploy to new lines of business. The company was looking for a new solution that would facilitate rapid integration of new acquisitions and provide a solid platform for business growth. Natural Balance was using a financial and inventory control system that was not scalable nor would support further business expansion following the acquisition. For this reason, Del Monte decided that Natural Balance would be their initial Kenandy deployment.
"One of the many reasons why Del Monte selected Kenandy was because we wanted a system that's flexible -- one that can easily adapt to business changes such as new acquisitions, while offering enterprise-class capabilities," says David McLain, senior vice president, chief information officer and chief procurement officer at Del Monte Foods. "Putting Natural Balance on Kenandy from day one allowed us to get the business up and running quickly using Del Monte's enterprise standards. It also helps us quickly assess potential future expansion within Del Monte."
Kenandy started to work on the implementation process in tandem with Del Monte's acquisition team before the acquisition closed. The process involved making the system compliant with the way Del Monte does business, including moving to their full corporate chart of accounts, meeting their standards for internal controls over financial reporting, and integrating with their transportation providers.
Natural Balance is using Kenandy's new Release 3, which includes global enterprise features, such as multi-company, multi-segment and multicurrency. It also handles traceability and provides greater automation throughout the enterprise.
Del Monte plans to realize several benefits from the Kenandy deployment at Natural Balance, including better visibility through a single source of data and the elimination of many manual processes. They also expect that the Kenandy system will help enhance productivity in shipping, receiving, quality management, and production.
