CGT Investigates Retailer/Supplier Data Sharing
Big Data hype is everywhere these days — even on the daily news. But how many consumer goods companies are actually pursuing big data initiatives to extract valuable insights, particularly from retail-provided POS data? And even then, do retailers value these big data efforts?
Consumer Goods Technology (CGT) and RIS News will answer these questions in 2014 Retailer/Supplier Shared Data Study. Now in its fifth year, the research will once again take a deep dive into collaborative downstream data sharing initiatives, analyzing year-over-year trends and progress.
Unlike any other study, this research polls members of both the consumer goods and retail communities to better understand how perspectives, strategies and benefits differ or compare between the two trading partners.
Last year, the Shared Data Study revealed that concrete benefits propelled retailer and supplier collaboration forward, but roadblocks remained. The findings confirmed widespread integration in the supplier community with data being used systematically in more diverse processes. Yet, the retailer's reluctance to share data or charging for data was detrimental to progress.
Has the situation improved in 2014 or are we at a data sharing standstill? The 2014 edition will provide a much needed update.
If you depend on data to do your job, please take 5-7 minutes to complete the 2014 survey. The results will be published in CGT and RIS News this upcoming Fall and will also be available online.
To show our appreciation, we are offering the first 120 qualified* consumer goods and retail respondents who complete this survey a $10 Starbucks Gift Card.
