RightSize Gains Fans and Funds with Social Commerce
The company migrated to the ShopVisible (www.shopvisible.com) e-commerce platform in July 2009 where customer service, back office, inventory, content, marketing, accounting and IT seamlessly work together as one business tool.
Shortly after upgrading RightSize's Web site, ShopVisible launched a Facebook application, which enables clients to customize their Facebook sites to enable e-commerce sales through the destination.
RightSize immediately saw the advantages of establishing a sales channel through Facebook to continue building its leadership position and increase its revenues through e-commerce.
"I recognize Facebook for being a source of unbiased consumer opinion, so we created a fan page," says Jennifer Goodner, corporate support manager at RightSize Health & Nutrition. "Facebook gave us the opportunity to collaborate with our customers, and ShopVisible's application was a natural progression for us to interact with fans, provide customer service while answering questions and helping people with tips or problems they were having."
ShopVisible's application provides Facebook users with the ability to view and purchase the products that are being talked about, directly from the fan page, without having to navigate away from Facebook or try to find the company's Web site to make a purchase.
"The application gave us the ability to list up to 16 of our products, which allowed us to showcase our most popular products," explains Goodner.
RightSize also created a promotion code for 10 percent off an order on the Facebook fan page. This allowed the company to stay connected with the community while saving money on our products.
"What's convenient is when you click on a product within our Facebook page, it brings you directly to the product checkout," says Goodner.
Since RightSize launched the Facebook application in February 2010, it has gained 800 fans. What's more, the active promotion code that's listed on the Facebook page has generated $36,195 in sales.
"While an exact quantitative return on investment is generally impossible to determine, we can confidently say that ShopVisible's Facebook application has given us a 5 percent to 10 percent lift to our overall Web revenue, which is significant," reports Goodner.
Moving forward, RightSize will continue to focus on Facebook and developing new promotions that will bring people to its site. In addition, the company will use Facebook as a way to collaborate with its followers and increase customer satisfaction.
RightSize also operates a blog to communicate the latest information on its products (see Solution Snapshot) and is in the process of building a stronger presence on Twitter.
