Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) is moving forward with its business separation, splitting its coffee and beverage businesses into two distinct entities: The Global Coffee Co. and The Beverage Co.

As part of this, the company has promoted Roger Johnson to chief transformation and supply chain officer, tasked with setting up the company for a successful separation.

He will help establish optimal operating models for the split, driving seamless integrations and identifying cost synergies along the way.

Johnson was previously the company's chief supply chain officer. He joined the company in 2016, rising in rank across several supply chain and R&D leadership roles, including chief product officer for the Keurig brand.

CEO Tim Cofer said the company is considering new strategic investments and a refreshed approach to its leadership structure as part of this business shift. "We will stay flexible and responsive as we work toward the north star of establishing two strong, successful companies," he added.

KDP plans to be operationally ready to separate into two independent businesses by the end of 2026.

While Cofer will still lead The Beverage Co. business as CEO upon separation, the company's board has initiated an internal and external search to fill the leadership role for The Global Coffee Co. Sudhanshu Priyadarshi will no longer assume the role as previously announced.

The company turned to private equity firms Apollo Global and KKR amid investor pushback that the Peet's buyout, followed by the business split, will add too much debt to KDP’s balance sheet. They will be investing $7 billion into the KDP restructure.
