Dolf van den Brink has announced he will step down from the role of CEO of Heineken on May 31. He will remain in an advisory capacity for eight months, beginning on June 1, to support a smooth transition, according to the board.

His departure marks the "right time to transition leadership" and a "personal reset," according to his post on LinkedIn

van den Brink has led the company for the last six years as part of a 20-year tenure with Heineken. He served in a variety of roles during that time, including president and CEO for its major markets, including the U.S., Mexico and the Asia Pacific region.

He has specialized in driving revenue growth, cultural transformation and strategic realignment within complex, large-scale operating companies.

Heineken said van den Brink helped guide the company through "turbulent economic and political times" and established the EverGreen Strategy 2030, which included the rollout of a multiyear Digital Backbone program that looks to integrate more than 40 digital platforms across more than 70 markets to create a more agile and connected organization.

The board has launched a search process to appoint his successor.
