Estée Lauder Appoints Brian Franz to New Role: Chief Technology, Data & Analytics Officer

The Estée Lauder Cos. has named a chief technology, data and analytics officer. 

Brian Franz will take on the newly created role as part of the company's efforts to restructure the executive team and simplify operations across the business and better serve consumers.

Franz will be tasked with leading the company’s strategic transformation with a focus on global data and tech capabilities. He will look to drive tech-enabled innovation through scalable, advanced platforms with increased agility that will allow Estée Lauder to deliver increased personalization for consumers.

As part of this, Franz will lead the global IT organization as well as the digital technology and experience and enterprise data teams. Within these segments, employees will focus on platform integration, personalized digital consumer experiences and strategic data management to support more agile decision-making across the organization. 

Franz was hired for his experience in modernizing infrastructure and building resilient and sustainable platforms, as well as integrating AI-driven capabilities. 

He will report directly to president and CEO Stéphane de La Faverie, who said that bringing these critical areas together under a single leader will simplify the company’s structure, remove operational silos and create stronger alignment across its data and tech strategies. 

Franz’s Background

Franz joins Estée Lauder from State Street, where he served as EVP, global chief information officer and head of enterprise resiliency. He led the organization’s global technology, enterprise resiliency and data efforts. 

Prior to that, he served as Diageo’s chief productivity officer and global CIO and head of business services. Earlier in his career, he was SVP and CIO for PepsiCo International, per LinkedIn

In February, Estée Lauder announced that it was consolidating its existing regional organization into four geographic clusters so the company can more efficiently jump on consumer trends to innovate faster. 

The new executive team reporting to de La Faverie now consists of:

As part of this leadership reorganization, the company is still searching for a chief digital marketing officer.
