Fruits and vegetable provider Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is building out logistics capabilities, adding a number of temperature-controlled storage facilities to its fulfillment centers.
The company is partnering with Flowspace, a software platform and distribution network powering e-commerce fulfillment and logistics, to add 30 Tricont Logistics’ temperature-controlled storage facilities to the Flowspace fulfillment centers. Tricont Logistics and Tricont Trucking is Del Monte’s third-party logistics and trucking company.
“We believe Flowspace’s technology designed to facilitate e-commerce and retail fulfillment will help us continue expanding our Tricont Logistics business to be able to offer our best-in-class logistics services to more customers,” said Ziad Nabulsi, senior vice president of north america operations for Fresh Del Monte’s.
The Flowspace OmniFlow technology will help streamline Tricont Logistics's growth, allowing the produce giant to continue to expand their third-party logistics business.
"Flowspace software streamlines the end-to-end fulfillment operation, improving visibility and orchestration for merchants and fulfillment operators alike,” said Frank Garcia, senior vice president of operations for Flowspace.
Food and beverage are currently expanding more rapidly than any other e-commerce category. Still, growth is hindered by the lack of fulfillment partners offering temperature-controlled facilities and specialized services, including SKU-level reporting, customizable picking logic, and loT tracking, which are vital for CPG companies. The new partnership will offer brands full-service fulfillment solutions to drive growth and convenient delivery to their customers.
Del Monte is known as a logistics powerhouse, owning Network Shipping along with Tricon Trucking and Tricon Logistics, which utilize the company’s ports, trucks, temperature-controlled warehouses, and ships located throughout 34 facilities across North America.
Del Monte has focused on increasing their investments in tech innovations, having recently invested in blockchain startup technology to help improve tracking, food safety, and traceability across all their services and products. The company invested 39 percent in a Jordanian and UK-based startup, Decapolis, that uses QR codes and blockchain technology to offer insight into their production process.
