Manjit Singh, CGT's 2017 "CIO of the Year" honoree, has left Clorox Co. to become chief information officer and group vice president of information systems for Toyota Motor North America.

The position puts Singh in charge of strategy, development and operation of all information systems, solutions and technology for the automaker. He will report to Zack Hicks, Toyota's chief digital officer and executive vp of digital transformation and mobility. Hicks served as CIO before he was named to his current post in April.

"We are glad to have Manjit join our information systems leadership team, and feel that his diverse industry background will be a tremendous addition to Toyota," Hicks said. "His experience leading information technology teams at Clorox, Box, Inc., and other large firms provides a strong foundation for leading and transforming the future of TMNA."

As part of the information systems leadership team, Singh will collaborate with group vp of mobility Chris Tinto and vp of connected technology Steve Basra to focus on new business innovation, profitability, mobility and digital transformation.

In his 3.5 years as CIO at Clorox, Singh was credited with making the IT department become a critical aspect of all business activity. 20-plus year career also includes CIO stints at Las Vegas Sands, Chiquita Brands and Gillette.

To replace Singh, Clorox promoted Jay McNulty, who had been serving as vp of global support and delivery. In that role, McNulty was responsible for global IT operations and focused on strengthening talent and capabilities. He joined Clorox in 2016 to become part of Singh's transformation initiative as vp of performance management.
