Unilever VP Announces Retirement

Unilever announces that Mike Bauer will retire from the role of vice president and general manager, Spreads, Dressings & Beverages, after 31 years with the company. His decision to retire was based on his desire to pursue other personal and career interests. His successor will be announced at a later date. Bauer's most noteworthy accomplishments include:
  • The building of Unilever's U.S. margarine business
  • Helping grow Unilever's share of the margarine category from a seven to a 50 percent market share
  • Being instrumental in developing several new brands that were taken national such as Shedd's Spread Country Crock, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Brummel and Brown, and Promise Take Control.
  • Most recently, Bauer played a key role helping the Hellmann's Mayonnaise brand to the top position in the Spoonables category in the United States.

He has also been intimately involved in playing a leadership and hands-on role with Unilever's volunteer programs, including the company's support of Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey.
