Stiefel Labs Tests Data Integration
Stiefel Laboratories has been a family-owned company since 1847 and began producing and selling soaps containing medicinal active ingredients for the treatment of skin problems. The tradition continues as Stiefel Laboratories focuses exclusively on skin care, offering hundreds of dermatology products -- both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC). OTC brands include PanOxyl Bar 10, PanOxyl Aqua Gel, SARNA Original Anti-Itch Lotion and ZNP Bar, which can be found at stores such as CVS,Wal-Mart,Walgreens, Albertsons and Wegmans. Stiefel Laboratories distributes products in more than 100 countries and needed a solution that would help it understand the sales in different geographic areas.
The company needed to easily integrate the point-of-sale (POS) data coming in from its numerous retail customers in many different formats. The integration would enable Stiefel Laboratories to assess customers' performance, understanding where and how they were performing in order to improve sales. In addition, POS data had to be integrated with Designated Market Area (DMA) information to properly match sales with marketing programs.
Accordingly, POSmart from Relational Solutions was selected for its ability to integrate POS data from various retailers very easily. The solution's open architecture and flexibility also allowed Stiefel Laboratories to integrate syndicated data with the POS data as well.
POSmart is being used by Stiefel Laboratories to integrate, understand and act on sales information. By integrating DMA and promotional information, Stiefel Laboratories can better understand how effective its promotions are, determining lift of the various promotions in different areas.
The integration of the data with DMA data allows Stiefel Laboratories to target specific markets with proven advertising successes. In optimizing its promotions and advertisements, Stiefel Laboratories can maximize sales for its retail customers and better serve consumers. //
