Ocean Spray Cranberries has tapped previous Subway executive Neil Hampshire to lead the company’s digital and IT efforts as its chief information and digital officer.

In the role, Hampshire will oversee Ocean Spray’s data information security, global IT operations, business intelligence, tech engineering, tech project management, and application tech teams.

Hampshire was previously VP of global IT operations at Subway, though his 30-year tech career has spanned across several categories like e-commerce and supply chain, focusing on data-driven processes and digital capabilities. He has held tech leadership roles with Reckitt, Wrigley, and Gillette, among others.

Tom Hayes, president and CEO, said Hampshire “intrinsically understands the connection strong technology, processes, and data have to driving sustainable results for our farmer-owners.”

"For more than 30 years, Neil has been a leader focused on strategic technology enablement, helping people and the companies they work for be more efficient, productive, and profitable," Hayes added.

Looking ahead to the new role, Hampshire said the company is presented with an “invigorating” opportunity to modernize technology and the business.

"We're going to catapult Ocean Spray into the next 100 years, always doing right by our cooperative and grower-owners," he noted.

He takes on the role starting October 30, reporting directly to Hayes.

Hampshire takes over for Jamie Head, who served as the company’s chief digital and technology officer from 2019 to 2023, focusing on the modernization of end-to-end business services and the migration to future state architecture and applications on cloud environments. The year prior, he was CIO for the company.

Head recently shared his thoughts on the role and his experience at Ocean Spray within a LinkedIn post.
