Mike Gomes Joins Perfetti Van Melle as Supply Chain VP
Candy and gum manufacturer Perfetti Van Melle has brought on Mike Gomes as VP of supply chain North America.
Most recently a VP of supply chain at Kroger, Gomes has more than three decades of supply chain experience in retail and CPG.
He spent more than 20 years at Procter & Gamble in a range of manufacturing and supply chain roles before moving on to spend five years at Mondelēz International, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also spent five years as chief manufacturing officer at Bonduelle Fresh Americas.
As part of Gomes’ end-to-end supply chain responsibilities, he’ll lead the company’s three factories Erlanger, KY; Rockford, IL; and Toluca, Mexico.
He will report to Sylvia Buxton, president/CEO of the Americas business unit.

Privately owned Perfetti Van Melle makes and distributes candy and gum in more than 150 countries under such brands as Airheads, Mentos, and Chupa Chups. The company picked up Mondelēz’s U.S. gum business in 2023, including the Trident, Dentyne, V6, and Bubbaloo brands.
Sylvia Buxton, president/CEO of the Americas business unit, noted in a statement that North American demand continues to be strong.
As of August, their 700,000-square-foot Rockford factory was on track to increase its workforce by 65% since it was acquired from Mondelēz.
Perfetti’s 2023 net sales were around $3.6 billion, according to the company.
