McCormick's Color Tricks for Halloween Treats

9/24/2012
Jack-o-Lantern Orange. Banshee Black. Frankenstein Green. This is part of McCormick & Company’s creative color offering for recipes and treats of the Halloween season.

"McCormick orange extract and food colors are the perfect combination for Halloween," says Mark Garcia of the McCormick Kitchens. "And, our Creepy Crawly Cake Truffles make great use of this combo. Not only are these bite-sized spiders, ghosts and bats fun on the outside, they also hold a surprise on the inside: a bright orange-flavored cake. This is just one of many playful tricks you can try with food color and extracts on Halloween."

McCormick Kitchens has also developed recipes especially for the season such as Black Velvet Whoopie Pies (mini cake sandwiches seasonally colored), Orange Hocus Pocus Fizz (cocktail or mocktail rimmed with black sugar), Harvest Scarecrow Cookies (sugar cookies dressed as scarecrows), and Candy Corn Cupcakes (colored like Halloween’s signature candy).

Additionally, McCormick’s Monster Color Mash-Up cake and icing menu instructs the precise drops of colors/mix needed to achieve the desired Frankenstein Green, Jack-O-Lantern Orange, Autumn Red and Banshee Black cake, available on its website: www.McCormick.com.
