More About Carena
Carena was previously the regional president for the Mars Snacking business in Europe and Central Eurasia, and also oversaw international travel retail.
He joined the company in 2022 from McDonald's, where he led the Russia business and grew it into a top 20 market. His background includes retail and FMCG experience, including with Nestlé and the European Food and Drink Association.
At Nestlé, Carena progressed from managing international restructuring projects in Europe to leading regional brand franchises in South Asia and ultimately serving as general business manager for Nestlé Algeria with full P&L responsibility, according to LinkedIn.
“His track record for delivering results whilst driving ambitious change — with the customer and consumers always at the center — will help to ensure our business will continue to thrive in an ever-changing landscape,” Poul Weihrauch, CEO of Mars, said in a statement. “Marc brings a wonderful mix of experience from different business models and geographies, combined with a people-centric leadership style.”
At the upcoming Analytics Unite conference, Kristen Daihes, Mars SVP of analytics, digital and data (which includes oversight of the supply chain, R&D and commercial), will address the new frontier of supply chains, which are AI-enabled and can autonomously predict and respond to inventory fluctuations in real-time.
