The Hershey Co. has hired Mitchell Arends to oversee its supply chain function.

Arends takes on the role of chief supply chain officer on June 22, taking over for Jason Reiman, who is retiring after more than 30 years with the organization.

He will manage the company's end-to-end operations for manufacturing, procurement, logistics and planning, focusing on accelerating digital integration through new automations and advanced analytics to optimize demand planning.

Reiman will remain in an advisory role through April 2027 to ensure a structured leadership transition.

Kirk Tanner, president and CEO, said Arends was hired for his experience across complex operations in the CPG industry.

"Mitch is a proven transformational leader with the end-to-end mindset, track record and people-first approach that will continue to drive Hershey's supply chain forward," said Tanner in a statement.

More About Arends

Arends joins Hershey from Utz Brands, where he served as EVP, principal operating officer and chief integrated supply chain officer.

He has more than 25 years of supply chain leadership experience. Before Utz, he served as SVP of operations and supply chain for Kraft Heinz's North America business. Additionally, he's worked across marketing and media for organizations such as Mondelez International and Nestle, according to LinkedIn

"Building a supply chain fit for the future means more than deploying technology or optimizing networks. It means developing the talent capable of sustaining that transformation long after any single initiative is complete," said Arends.
