BevAlc company Diageo, known for manufacturing brands such as Johnnie Walker, Don Julio Tequila and Guinness, has opened a 360,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery, Alabama.

With a multi-million-case annual production capacity, the Diageo Montgomery facility will help the beverage maker expand its North American supply chain footprint and focus on making operations more sustainable.

The new facility will include five on-site automated guided vehicles, high-speed bottling line support, advanced water and energy metering, and energy-efficient infrastructure.

“The opening of Diageo Montgomery marks an important step forward in building the agile, future-ready supply network that our business demands. By placing this facility at the heart of the southern region, we’re not only strengthening our connection to customers, but also setting a new standard for efficient, sustainable manufacturing,” Marsha McIntosh, president of North America supply at Diageo, said in a statement.

“This site reflects our long-term commitment to accelerating innovation, ensuring our iconic brands reach consumers with greater speed and significantly lower environmental impact, and investing in local communities,” added McIntosh.

Representing an approximate investment of $415 million, Diageo Montgomery plans to employ about 100 full-time team members and support 750 construction jobs in the Montgomery area.
