The Flashfood mobile app aims to help consumers buy food that is close to expiring at big discounts (while also hoping to reduce food waste). The app lets participating grocers post items on sale to be bought through the app or in the store.
Flashfood had a successful run with Target’s Techstars Retail startup incubator program last year, when the company also staged a pilot with Tyson in the Detroit area. It now is running a pilot in Madison, WI, with the Hy-Vee supermarket chain and just rolled out across Loblaw's' Maxi/Provigo discount chain in Quebec.
