Nestle Opens New Probiotics Production Facility
Nestle inaugurates a Nestle Nutrition facility in Konolfingen (Switzerland) in the presence of Swiss Economic Affairs Minister Doris Leuthard. The plant will produce new-generation probiotic infant formula under the NAN brand and enable Nestle Nutrition to meet the growing needs of consumers in over 90 countries.
The inauguration marks the first stage in a series of investments totaling around CHF 180 million over the next three years, strengthening Konolfingen's position as a global manufacturing site for highly-specialized infant formula and healthcare nutrition. The new Nestle Nutrition industrial site will benefit from synergies with Nestle's Product Technology Center, also based in Konolfingen.
The establishment of the new Nestle Nutrition plant can be interpreted as a further sign that Nestle sees the nutrition business as one of its key strategic areas with above-average growth and profit potential over the coming years. Nestle Nutrition specializes in nutrition with sales of about CHF 11 billion in 2008.
