Marcal Names New CEO
Marcal Paper Mills, manufacturer of household paper goods from 100 percent recycled paper, names Fred Smagorinsky as CEO.
Smagorinsky brings to Marcal experience leading organizations spanning established industrial concerns to entrepreneurial-minded nonprofits. He most recently served as CEO of NJ-based Schofield Stone, a major, privately held quarrier, fabricator, wholesaler and retailer of natural stone products, where he made key, strategic acquisitions, significantly expanded the company's presence in the southeastern region and navigated a challenging economic climate through disciplined cost, asset and cash management.
Prior to Schofield Stone, Smagorinsky served as chief operating officer of Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization addressing the under-representation of minorities in leadership positions in corporations, entrepreneurial ventures and nonprofit organizations. Smagorinsky's growth and infrastructure development strategies doubled the organization and program scope within 18 months of his joining.
Smagorinsky capped a 14-year career at global food and specialty packaging company Sealed Air Corporation as vice president, Corporate Sales and Marketing, spearheading worldwide strategic initiatives and the revamping of the company's North American industrial sales organization. He'd previously served as vice president of Manufacturing for the company's Packaging Products division, and as Managing Director of its Australia and New Zealand operations
