Kiss My Face Sends Green Messages in a Bottle
Still, Kiss My Face has encountered challenges in creating packaging using 100 percent post consumer recycled (PCR) and sustainable materials. As is its tradition, the company pushed on at an increased expense.
Kiss My Face worked with design agency Alternatives to create packaging using PCR materials, which requires additional steps to determine how soy based inks will adhere and be absorbed by the materials; to determine different temperature requirements to store and ship product; and to ensure the right balance of PCR to handle new weight and stability requirements.
To date, Kiss My Face has replaced the packaging for its organic skincare line, Potent & Pure, with 65 percent PCR packaging created using wind power and water soluble inks. The company has also created more sustainable floor and countertop displays without increasing prices more than industry averages for the past five years.
Going forward, Kiss My Face plans to replace all traditional packaging materials with recycled or sustainable materials by the year 2013 or sooner.
