The Consumer Goods Business & Technology Leadership Conference

In October, consumer goods executives gathered at The Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Fla., for the 12th annual Consumer Goods Business and Technology Leadership Conference. There, they explored the theme of "Leveraging Core Capabilities to Maximize Growth & Collaboration Opportunities" through abundant networking opportunities and insightful presentations. Some of the event's many highlights include:
 
• "We're in good shape," claimed noted economist Richard Hastings in his keynote presentation, which provided an overview of consumer and economic trends impacting consumer goods. Hastings also shared insights for understanding the challenges that retail customers face in an effort to become better partners.
 
• Target Corporation took the stage next to reveal how it is utilizing social media in three sectors: Guest Facing to engage the consumer; Internal Collaboration, designed so team members can work more effectively; and Partner Collaboration.
 
• Dr Pepper Snapple Group is making great strides aligning technology and business processes in a standardized efficient manner. In the second day keynote presentation, Gerry Mecca, VP of IT, shared the company's journey to toward purposeful business process management, from strategy to execution.
 
• Beverly Tarulli, Ph.D., Vice President of Human Resources, PepsiCo, closed the show with a talk on PepsiCo's Finance University, which was created as a keystone for talent development, combining multiple approaches that expand learning beyond the classroom for 2,000 finance associates.
