Amazon Launches Private Label Fashion Brands

2/24/2016
Amazon has reportedly launched seven private label fashion brands and is building out a team to make private label goods.

WWD reports there are about 1,800 stockkeeping units in the trademarked brands: Franklin & Freeman, Franklin Tailored, James & Erin, Lark & Ro, North Eleven, Scout + Ro and Society New York. Goods include men’s dress shoes and suits, women’s casual and contemporary clothing, and children’s clothing. Most of the items are in the women’s dress and handbags line, called Society New York, and in Franklin Tailored, the men’s accessories line.

In recent weeks, Amazon has been looking to build its private label team, with job openings listed for a head of marketing and senior brand manager, senior sourcing manager and senior merchandiser to staff the Amazon Fashion Private Label unit.

Business Insider UK reports another opening under the senior software engineer position describes Amazon's fashion ambition in a little more detail: "When you think of buying new clothing, shoes, watches and jewelry, do you think of Amazon? Not yet? Well, we are going to change that."
