Tip of the Spear Technology: VERA

Using machine learning algorithms, Piktor Labs' VERA software identifies an item chosen by the shopper, then provides relevant recommendations (to suggest ensembles, accessories etc.) by combining trending styles gleaned from social media, published content and other digital sources with a retailer's product availability data. The tool can also be used to simply request fittings, check in-store availability or place orders online for home delivery.

After the tool graduated from Target's accelerator program, retailers including Neiman Marcus have conducted successful pilots, according to the company.
