Publix Proactively Manages Hurricane Risks
Publix Super Markets extends its contract for Planalytics business weather intelligence. Planalytics Severe Weather Service is designed to help retailers and manufacturers in all industries prepare for significant weather events that can be a risk to their businesses. In the event of hurricanes, a preseason forecast of storm threats are published in January so that a business can plan the quantity of storm pallets necessary and distribute them to the appropriate DC's or store locations. Once in-season, all tropical activity is monitored and clients are alerted immediately of potential threats. This information is delivered as necessary and provides a visual display and text file of all store locations in the threat zone. Most importantly, each client is assigned an expert business meteorologist that is available for questions and additional support. "The goal of our Severe Weather Service is to be able to provide our clients with guidance before the season begins in order to properly plan their business and enough advance notice in-season that they are able to put plans into action surrounding a significant weather event," commented Frederic Fox, president and CEO at Planalytics. "Our staff of business meteorologists is second to none. I have every confidence in their ability to not only forecast these events but to support our clients throughout them in whatever way they can," continued Fox.
