Pathmark Tackles BOB Loss

Pathmark Stores deploys LaneHawk Visual Scanning software to combat bottom-of-basket (BOB) loss. The implementation addresses the problem of BOB items leaving the store without being paid for − a growing problem that grocery retailers have faced for years. Pathmark utilizes the software's visual pattern recognition (ViPR) technology to detect, identify and present BOB items directly to the point of sale. This enables cashiers to add those BOB items directly to the transaction. In addition to having the ability to transact BOB items at the point of sale, Pathmark can track cashier performance, which in turn will reduce shrink and improve per store profitability.
