Luis Merchan has been named president of consumer goods at Flora, tasked with leading the company’s CBD portfolio.

Flora produces organic, pharmaceutical-grade CBD oils and extracts and CBD-infused consumer products.

Merchan was previously serving as Macy’s Inc.’s VP of workforce strategy and operations, where he managed its P&L expense line for the 540 store portfolio. His tenure at Macy’s also included various executive-level roles, such as VP of customer experience and selling support services and Group VP of national merchandising and sales – beauty. He also held managerial roles at Target Corporation.

The appointment fills a vacant role at the company, and Merchan will immediately take control of sales and operations at the corporate level, overseeing Flora’s consumer facing brand divisions of Breeze Laboratory, Cronomed, Mambe and Flora Beauty.

“Luis is a proven CPG executive that will help execute Flora’s strategy and make us a global leader in the CBD space,” said Flora Growth’s CEO, Damian Lopez. “Our brand divisions have already been working with Luis over the prior months and will continue leveraging his industry expertise to strengthen their market position and generate returns for investors.”

Flowers Foods is consolidating business units and making some leadership adjustments in order grow its brands, improve operations and more heavily focus on product innovation.

Cathryn Sleight has been elevated to chief growth officer of Mars Wrigley, tasked with leading the brand’s global marketing, innovation, insights, analytics and business development.

Tapestry chairman and CEO Jide Zeitlin has resigned from the company and its board of directors, citing personal reasons.
