In a world where it seems as though so much undue pressure is being thrust upon the CPG industry by their retail "partners", I find it oddly amusing when many of the CPG executives I talk to are more than happy to discuss the finer points of growing their customers business.
It's an unfortunate fact of consumer goods manufacturing that not every bottle, tube or pack flows through distribution to a retailer's operations and, ultimately, to the consumer's home and stays there, satisfying the customer.
With a higher degree of mandates from retailers, corporate legislation like Sarbanes-Oxley and a crowded product marketplace, it would appear that the consumer goods landscape is an unforgiving atmosphere full of revenue roadblocks.
