The retailer has appointed Christopher J. Baldwin to the role of president and chief operating officer, filling a position that was vacant for seven years.

Dollar General Corp., Goodlettsville, Tennessee

James W. Thorpe, who retired as senior vice president and merchandise manager of Dollar General in 2012, has rejoined the retailer as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. Thorpe replaces David D’Arezzo, who left the company on Aug. 6 after 20 months on the job.

Fresh Market, Greensboro, North Carolina

The retailer has tapped former Food Lion CEO Richard Anicetti as its new chief executive.

Kings Food Markets, Parsippany, New Jersey

The grocery chain is promoting Arthur Goncalves to vice president of produce and floral; Scott Zoeller to vice president of deli, meat and seafood; and Rick Michener to director of seafood sales and merchandising.

Redbox, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois

The ubiquitous video retailer has promoted Matt James to senior vice president of operations and merchandising, to be based in Chicago area and help improve and evolve the retail experience.

Rite Aid, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

Rite Aid has promoted president Ken Martindale to the new role of chief executive officer of Rite Aid stores. Martindale will continue to report to CEO of Rite Aid John Standley and will retain his role as president.

Target Corp., Minneapolis

The retailer is promoting current chief financial officer John Mulligan to the newly created role of executive vice president and chief operating officer.
