LG Electronics to Reduce Overhead Costs by $3.5 Million
November 16, 2005 - Consumer durables giant LG Electronics India Ltd (LGEIL) expects to reduce overhead costs by at least $3.5 million annually now that its Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning 'E-Business Suite' implementation is compete. "The project took us about seven months and we have covered finance, manufacturing, sales and service head under the E-Business suite," says Arindam Bose, IT head for LGEIL IT. "Once the new ERP is in place, there would be a reduction of 3 percent in inventory and 0.6 percent in material idle time from the current 1.2 percent."

When their partnership was announced earlier this year, LGEIL reportedly hoped to achieve better quality information through its single data model and an integrated Oracle Information Architecture. The Oracle Information Architecture includes the Oracle E-Business Suite, along with the underlying database and application server technologies.

With the implementation of the new system, LGEIL will integrate seamlessly with its parent company and other LG businesses worldwide as LG runs on the Oracle E-Business Suite globally.
