Cadbury Schweppes Vending Machines Accept Contactless Payment
Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages (CSAB), whose brands include Dr Pepper, 7UP, Snapple, A&W Root Beer, Hawaiian Punch, Canada Dry, Mott's and numerous others, is working with MasterCard and USA Technologies to enable Dr Pepper and Snapple vending machines in Dallas, New York and Chicago to accept credit card payments. Mastercard is providing the software that enables the machines to accept all major credit cards, while USA Technologies is providing the e-Port device that facilitates contactless payments.
"Convenience is a driving factor in consumer purchasing decisions and credit cards are becoming a preferred method of payment for purchases at all price levels, even those under $5," says Mark Jackson, vice president of cold drink equipment & equity, CSAB. "The e-Port cashless transaction solution makes purchasing our popular soft drinks, teas and juices from our vending machines easier and more convenient than ever."
The new system rollout will cover as many as 1,000 machines and will ultimately incorporate 5,000 POS terminals and vending machines in a dozen U.S. cities. The rollout is expected to be completed in early 2007.
