Wells' Dairy Inc. selects Prescient Applied Intelligence Inc. to power its vendor managed inventory (VMI) initiative. Wells' Dairy, based in Le Mars, Iowa, is the largest family-owned and managed dairy processor in the United States. The company manufactures Blue Bunny ice cream, frozen dairy desserts and novelties. While Wells' Dairy is not new to Prescient solutions, the company needed to expand its existing Prescient capabilities to conduct VMI with large customers that incorporate warehousing and distribution services. "When one of our significant business partners approached us about participating in VMI, we saw it as an opportunity to forge a stronger relationship with them," says Mike Kooistra, director of information services at Wells' Dairy. "Prescient's VMI solution will allow us to take more control of ordering and replenishment, avoid lost sales, and provide higher service levels to our customers."
