Three printer/encoder products for RFID smart labels are designed by Zebra Technologies to support suppliers and manufacturers worldwide in the adoption of EPC-compliant RFID. Using Zebra's R110Alchemy engine, smart labels are created on-demand within the printer. The R110Alchemy engine is designed specifically for high-speed, print-and-apply label applicators. The R110Alchemy also supports all types of 13.56 MHz and UHF RFID inlays, making it suitable for current EPC-compliance and future RFID initiatives. Zebra also launches two new tabletop R4Mplus RFID printer/encoders at the EPC Symposium. The R4Mplus may be ordered to Class 0 or Class 1 ultra-high frequency (UHF) EPC specifications, depending on the user's requirements.

Intentia International AB develops a real-time, on-demand technology platform called Movex Edge. Based on Internet standards, Movex Edge enables a company to integrate its IT systems with suppliers and customers within 30 minutes and share business applications as Web Services, regardless of the type of system or device on which the information is held. Movex Edge creates an on-demand commercial environment where the technology senses and responds in real time to fluctuating market conditions. As a result, all transactional processes between a company and its suppliers and customers are automated.

Affinnova's Evolution
Affinnova Inc., a provider of product design and development solutions, created a unique way to experience its technology firsthand -Ñ by giving hundreds of participants the opportunity to play an integral role in the evolution of Affinnova's holiday card -Ñ a 2004 calendar. The Company's IDEA (Interactive Design by Evolutionary Algorithms) technology evolves virtual products, concepts, packages and brands based on the preferred design for a given representative group of consumers. After soliciting input online from hundreds of participants, Affinnova produced and mailed the top performing calendar (pictured above), along with profile information about the online participants and their design preferences.

Intermec Walks Through RFID
Intermec Technologies launches the Intellitag IP3, an RFID reader configured as an accessory handle for the Intermec's 700 Series Pocket PC mobile computer. The snap-on, high impact plastic and magnesium trigger handle reader is packaged with a rechargeable battery pack powerful enough to sustain a full shift's worth of work. Workers can locate a tagged case or pallet by simply walking through a room with the device until the IP3 alerts them that the item has been found. The Intellitag RFID technology also has the added capability to change and update information on each tag at any point, providing new levels of up-to-date information.
