Swedish Match Reveals VMI Program Results
Swedish Match, a leader in smokefree tobacco products, cigars, pipe tobacco and lights products, announces results realized since implementing Park City Group's Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Enterprise Supply Chain Planning solution for enterprise forecasting.
Swedish Match has been a customer of Park City Group since 2000, when it was approached by a major retail partner and asked to manage its own inventory in the retailer's distribution network. Since the initial implementation, Swedish Match has expanded its VMI program to include three key retail partners. With each of those retail partners, VMI has provided quantifiable results through reducing the number of shipments with accurate replenishment orders and decreasing lead time by taking control of the ordering process.
"Park City Group's VMI has been an invaluable tool and has given us significant benefit around our promotions planning," states Sharon Brooks, Swedish Match customer service manager. "The orders from our VMI retail partners now include promotional items and show where and when they're going to be needed. In contrast, our non-VMI trading partners provide separate promotional orders which leads to reactive planning. The visibility and ordering logic afforded by the Park City Group VMI solution has provided proactive planning with more accurate forecasts for stocking our satellite warehouses for shipment to the customer."
