Ragu to Have a 'Rosey" 80th Anniversary

When the annual Rose Parade makes its 128th procession down the streets of Pasadena, CA, on Jan. 2, the Ragú brand will be celebrating the kickoff of its 80th anniversary with a float in the parade entitled "Simmered in Tradition." The float will pay tribute to the brand's founders, farmers, sauce makers and consumers who've made Ragú an American pasta sauce icon.

Aboard the one-of-a-kind float, spectators will find the Muller family. Their farm in Woodland, CA, has been cultivating the California-grown, vine-ripened tomatoes used to make Ragú for three generations.

The family put out a statement that as a family farm, “it's rewarding to be a part of something that brings families together over a delicious, shared meal.”

Mizkan America acquired Ragú in 2014 from Unilever, which took ownership of the brand in 1987 through the acquisition of Cheesebrough-Pond's. That historical packaged-goods maker had acquired rights to the Ragú name from the original owners in 1969.
