Philip Morris Announces Supplier Achievement Award Recipient

Philip Morris USA, an operating company of Altria Group Inc., gives the Supplier Achievement Award in the area of customer service and merchandising at its annual Supplier Recognition and Engagement Event to DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company headquartered in Des Plaines, Ill.

Garry Schmidt, senior director, customer service and merchandising for Philip Morris USA, presented the award to DSC's Chief Executive Officer Ann Drake. Schmidt reflected on DSC's performance in operating Logistics Centers at which DSC "touches virtually all of (Philip Morris USA's) volume." He says, "If I had to describe your workforce with one word, it would have to be 'proactive.' I've been to your facilities and I know there are challenges every day. But you are constantly thinking ahead and developing plans for us. In my experience, that's the reason you've achieved world class standards so consistently for 10 straight years."

The partnership between Philip Morris USA and DSC Logistics dates back to 1978. DSC provides logistics management services; transportation services, including global shipping and domestic transportation; and value added services, including product conformance status monitoring, capturing and tracing, recoup and damage replacement, case carton tracking, case barcode label design and programming, promotional packaging, air freight movement, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) reporting, refrigerated treatment process, general IT process and application design, and ISO 9001-2000 certified management system.
