Newell Rubbermaid Closes Two Acquisitions

Newell Rubbermaid announces that it has substantially completed the acquisition of Aprica Childcare Institute Aprica Kassai Inc. (Aprica), a leading maker of strollers, car seats and other children's products, headquartered in Osaka, Japan. Aprica has proprietary technology in lightweight strollers and car seats. The nearly 60-year-old brand has been recognized internationally for its commitment to pediatric research and dedication to child safety. The addition of Aprica to Newell Rubbermaid's Baby & Parenting Essentials global business unit provides the company with well-known brands in children's products, including Graco and Teutonia. Aprica also provides a significant platform for expansion in Asia. Also this week, Newell Rubbermaid acquired Technical Concepts Holdings LLC, a provider of restroom hygiene systems for several high-growth segments of the away-from-home (AFH) washroom category, based in Mundelein, Ill. With net sales of approximately $137 million, the acquisition of Technical Concepts will add scale to Newell Rubbermaid's Commercial Products global business unit, creating a position in the $2.5 billion worldwide AFH washroom category. In addition, with approximately 40 percent of sales outside the United States, Technical Concepts is expected to increase the combined entity's global footprint
