Giant Eagle Rolls Out Personal Shopping Assistant System
Giant Eagle rolls out the IBM personal shopping assistant (PSA) shopping cart system. The portable shopping devices are provided by Motorola, the Cart Companion software is from Cuesol and the IBM Store Integration Framework platform integrates the new system with existing store applications. Customers at five Giant Eagle locations can automatically scan and bag their own groceries as they shop, paying for everything at a checkout station. Customers also can check prices and keep a running tally as they shop.
