Condiment Processor Spices Up ERP Software

In order to integrate all business processes of the world's largest horseradish grower and processor in a single food ERP software system, Silver Spring Foods Inc. has licensed the DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software System. Silver Spring Foods will use the DEACOM ERP System to manage its recipe management, quality control/quality assurance, accounting, lot tracking/inventory control, purchasing, sales order entry and production processes.

"Silver Spring Foods prides itself on providing exceptional service and quality products," says Noah Wallace, IT Director for Silver Spring Foods. "Because of this, we did not want software customization efforts to affect our ability to carry out our mission."

Family owned and operated for 80 years, Eau Claire, Wis.-based Silver Spring Foods produces fresh horseradish and horseradish sauces for the retail, food service, private label and industrial markets. The company also makes a variety of specialty mustards, for which it has recently been named one of America's fastest growing brands.

"DEACOM was able to provide the functionality and links to our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that we needed, essentially 'out of the box,' in one system," explains Wallace. "It is reassuring to know that users won't need to consult the IT department to complete a task, and likewise, the IT department won't need to be concerned with the time and expense of maintaining multiple, modular-based systems."
