PunchTab to Tailor Offers for Sam’s Club

Palo Alto, California-based software company PunchTab has been acquired by WalmartLabs, the technology arm of Walmart Stores Inc. PunchTab’s first task “is to leverage its software platform to enhance the ways we tailor offers to Sam’s Club members across our clubs, our mobile app and on SamsClub.com,” Walmart.com SVP and chief technology officer Jeremy King said in a post on the WalmartLabs website. “Like most of the technology we build at WalmartLabs, we plan to apply what we build for Sam’s Club to Walmart’s other businesses, including Walmart.com.”

Collaboration App for Brands and Retailers

Shopperations, Cincinnati, has launched a marketing collaboration portal intended to give retail marketing and merchandising teams an intuitive toolkit to manage conversations with the CPG vendor community, raise sponsorship funds and coordinate creative asset sharing. “I started Shopperations after many years in CPG shopper marketing because I saw tremendous opportunities to streamline the workflow and build more trust between retailers and brands,” Shopperations founder Olga Yurovski said in a media release.

Survey Explores Attitudes Toward E-Commerce

Field Agent, Fayetteville, Arkansas, has released a report highlighting changes in the grocery industry, including the trends toward online and mobile ordering, grocery delivery and, in particular, grocery pickup. The mobile market research company surveyed more than 500 shoppers to understand the changes occurring in the industry purely from the shopper’s point of view. The report revealed that 75% of shoppers agreed with the statement: “I want retailers to develop alternatives to traditional, in-store grocery shopping.” When asked “What is the likelihood you will use a grocery pickup service in the future,” 70% responded they are at least moderately likely.

Nielsen Launches Homescan Consumer Moments

New York-based market research and consumer insights provider Nielsen has launched Nielsen Homescan Consumer Moments, which offers a highly visual, interactive digital dashboard to reveal a complete view of consumer eating and drinking habits. The new service will link to Nielsen’s Homescan Panel purchase behavior data to bridge behavioral patterns of purchase and consumption. Panelists will be able to report consumption behavior in-the-moment, offering a real-time approach to marketers.

Solution Tracks and Controls Digital Coupons

RevTrax, New York, has extended its digital patent portfolio with a technology that limits fraudulent access, printing and use of digital promotions or coupons. It includes offers distributed to anonymous consumers without requiring them to download any software or executable file or provide any personal information. The proprietary technology works seamlessly with RevTrax’s SmartOffer and AutoOptimizer solutions to target and optimize offers based on predefined rules.

Steven M. Vandemore, president of the designer and manufacturer of fixture and display solutions for the retail industry, was appointed CEO at a recent meeting of the board of directors. Vandemore, who since 2010 has served on the board of directors at Southern Imperial, left Deere & Co. in late 2014 to become president of the company.
