Mars Sweetens Meijer's Summer

Mars Inc. is promoting the red, white and blue confectionery SKUs it rolls out for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July with an exclusive sweepstakes at Meijer.

Shoppers who purchase a qualifying M&M's, Snickers, Dove or Skittles SKU from May 13 to July 4 and upload a picture of their receipt to a promotional web page operated by Snipp Interactive are entered in a sweeps awarding a trip to the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago. Two runners-up receive a pair of all-inclusive passes to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH. The sweeps also awards 12 to 16 winners each week with a $100 store gift card.

Endcap displays outfitted with side panels use a "Find Your Summer Sweet Spot" message to promote the sweeps in stores. Seasonal M&M's SKUs are stocked on national floorstands that boast the brand is made in America, a status it also has been promoting at Walmart. A feature in the digital version of Meijer's May 27 circular supported.

The patriotic-themed M&M's and Snickers SKUs also are stocked alongside confectionery from Hershey Co. on "Summer Sweets" gondolas in action alley. The same theme appeared in a full page feature in Meijer's June 24 tab and on a web page within meijer.com that hosts recipes from brands including Hershey's Reese's, Kellogg Co.'s Keebler and Bimbo Bakeries USA's Little Bites.
