Whole Foods Spices Up Pumpkins
Whole Foods is embracing one of fall's most popular flavors, promoting seasonal pumpkin-flavored private label products along with recipes incorporating the gourd.
In stores, framed signs plug pumpkin spice snacks and pumpkin apple cider from private label 365 Everyday Value. Outdoor banners tout the seasonal flavor with a "fall for every pumpkin in the patch" message. Display ads on websites including finance.yahoo.com, and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram updates support.
A Sept. 18 post on the retailer's Whole Story blog promotes the nine pumpkin-flavored SKUs from the brand along with Wellspring Creamery's pumpkin cheese and various pumpkin beers. The post also offers tips for cooking with pumpkin and hosts recipes and cooking videos.
A Sept. 25 email blast, a home page display ad on wholefoods.com, and numerous social media updates link to the post. Other updates link to a collection of 12 pumpkin recipes within the retailer's website or an Oct. 3 Whole Story post spotlighting the 365 Everyday Value pumpkin spice products along with other new items such as Pederson Natural Farms' Nature's Rancher single-serving bacon and Bou Brands' Bou bouillon cubes.
