Standard Cognition AI-Based Platform

By Dan Ochwat - 11/16/2017

Palo Alto, California-based Standard Cognition has launched an AI-based platform that uses machine learning vision (similar to the idea of Bodega) to roll out its version of cashier-less, autonomous shopping. It is said to be an alternative to Amazon Go. The company is testing a demo store in Santa Clara, California, that shows how the technology works, but it is expecting to pilot the first store in 2018. Standard Cognition enables shoppers to enter the beta store, take what they need and go. No need to scan or check out. The shoppers use the company’s shopper app to check into the location, and the app tracks them. They take, go and are automatically billed through the app. A special app for the store fields the alerts to track inventory. The company is looking to partner with retailers.
