Sargento to Purchase La Terra Fina
Sargento Foods, a family-owned cheese company, will acquire California-based La Terra Fina, which manufactures dips, spreads and quiches.
Sargento sought to purchase La Terra for its quality ingredients and loyal consumer following, as well as the opportunity to expand into the deli department of grocery retailers nationwide.
La Terra Fina was founded in 1983 and has approximately 250 employees. The brand and business have been a private affiliate of Catamount Management Corp. since 2015.

Sargento puts people first, just as we do," Stephen Cottrell, president and CEO of La Terra Fina, said in a statement. "What made us pleased is that Sargento is a family-owned business focused on long-term results, which also fits how we run our business."
"For more than 70 years, our commitment to innovation has driven our success that we share with our employees, customers, suppliers and community," third-generation chairman and CEO Louie Gentine said in a statement. "We will continue this legacy by growing the La Terra Fina brand and welcoming new members of the Sargento family."
The deal is anticipated to close in late September.
